The short version
Somoney stores your data in two places, and you can delete each:
- On your phone — delete it yourself, instantly, inside the app.
- In the cloud (only if you turned on Cloud Backup & Sync) — delete it from inside the app, or request it by email. This also removes your login.
Deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed. If you may want your records later, export an encrypted .sph backup first (Settings → Backup).
Option 1 — Delete data on your device (instant)
All your business data lives on your phone by default. To erase it from a device:
- Open Somoney.
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Reset / Delete My Data and confirm.
This permanently removes all business data from that device. It cannot be undone. (If you also used cloud backup, this device-side action does not remove your cloud copy — use Option 2 for that.)
Option 2 — Delete your account & cloud data
This applies if you turned on Cloud Backup & Sync and/or signed in with Google.
From inside the app (recommended)
- Open Somoney and sign in.
- Go to Settings.
- Choose Request Cloud Data Erasure / Delete Account and confirm.
This erases your business’s cloud records and stored photographs and deletes your login identity, so your Google account can be used to register afresh.
By email (alternative / web request)
If you cannot access the app, send a deletion request from the email address linked to your Google account:
privacy@somoney.in — subject/body: “Delete my account and data”.
Please include the Google account email address on the account so we can locate it.
Identity verification. To protect your account from unauthorised deletion, we may ask you to verify your identity (for example, via the Google account email address on file) before we act.
Timelines. We will acknowledge your request promptly (we aim to do so within 3 working days) and complete a verified deletion, and confirm to you, within 30 days — or sooner where the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025 prescribe a shorter period — extending only where reasonably necessary and permitted, in which case we will tell you.
What is deleted, and what is kept
| Data | What happens |
|---|---|
| Your business records (ledger, parties, invoices, inventory, expenses, staff/payroll, etc.) | Deleted from the cloud. |
| Photographs you uploaded | Deleted from cloud storage. |
| Your login / authentication identity (Google-based account) | Deleted, so the account can register afresh. |
| Data stored only on your device | Removed by Option 1 (device-side); not affected by a cloud request. |
| Deletion markers (tombstones) | Retained up to ~90 days so the deletion propagates across your devices, then purged. |
| Records we are legally required to keep, or need to resolve a dispute or prevent abuse | Retained only as and for as long as the law requires, then deleted. |
Before you delete
Deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed. If you may want your records later, first create an encrypted .sph backup from Settings → Backup and store it safely.
For the full picture of how we handle your data, see our Privacy Policy (Section 14, “Data retention & deletion”).
